The following genealogical events are currently scheduled. This calendar includes Partner Societies that are offering one-day or multiple-day workshops and seminars, as well as national and international conferences. It does not include monthly meetings.

Cherokee County Genealogical Society Spring Seminar

$15.00Registration is now open for the Cherokee County, Texas, Genealogical Society Spring Seminar. Brochures are available by contacting the society. The date is Saturday April 6, 2019. The place is the meeting room of the Rusk Public Library (aka Singletary Memorial Library), 207 East 6th Street in Rusk, Texas. Cost of the seminar is $15.00 to cover morning refreshments and a catered sandwich lunch. Reservations to attend the seminar can be made in advance by contacting the society (contact information below); seating is limited.

Topic: Online Research in Old Newspapers (including information on researching in Mississippii) - The last session of the day will offer a choice of several hands-on research experiences in the Rusk Library genealogy collection, using the library’s Wifi for online research and/or extended conservations with the speakers.

Membership
CCGS dues for September 2018-May 2019 can be paid any time at a regular meeting or by regular mail. Annual CCGS membership dues are $20.00 (single) and $25.00 (two-member household).
Membership includes issues of the CCGS publication, TREE TALK. Single issues of TREE TALK are also available for purchase by regular mail or e-mail. Articles and items related to Cherokee County genealogy and history can be submitted for publication in TREE TALK by contacting CCGS president and editor Gordon Bennett of Jacksonville at the e-mail and phone number below. Each issue of TREE TALK contains a list of publications available for sale by the society on Cherokee County history and the genealogy of Cherokee County, families.
Anyone interested in researching their family history and genealogy in general is invited to attend the CCGS meetings and join the society according to the CCGS press release. Free genealogy and historical research help is available after the regular CCGS business meetings and programs or by contacting a CCGS member between meeting dates.
